the year of 1999 was believed to be the doom of world. however the mighty nature, or god, or whoever you think it is, changed his plan last minute. instead of freezing, burning or vaporizing the earth, he decided to let us die slowly. that's why you see civil wars, pollution, tsunami, earthquake and exams all over the world.the year of 1999 was also believed to be the doom of computers. they believed that all computers will break down at the last microsecond of 1999 because the coming 2000 can only be represented by 00 which clashes with 1900. it was known as the "millennium bug" or "y2k bug". people were concerned and actions were taken; the y2k bug didn't take place.
and we still see humans and computers around.
there was a movie which talked about the relation between humans and machines. it's called the matrix. it gave us an idea that humans created machines to be their slaves; and as machines are integrated with more and more intelligence, they will eventually enslave humans. besides the well-known matrix trilogy, warner brothers also came out with a side project called "animatrix", meaning "animated matrix". the whole idea of having the matrix and animatrix is to show how possible it is for us to be enslaved by machines.
i believe in matrix. i love the movie so much. i memorized most of the scripts of the movie.
here are some interesting quotes:
"the matrix has you." - trinity
it tells us the nature of matrix. however, to most us, it has the same effect as "i was captured by aliens."
"follow the white rabbit!" - trinity
trinity asks neo to follow the gal with a white rabbit tattoo. then neo meets trinity. and then neo got into trouble with agents... i think it's talking about about not to have sex, coz sex can lead to nasty consequences like... relationship? make sense?
"jesus christ, that thing's real?!" - neo
i said the same thing when i was in kindergarten. i peed my bed when i dreamed there was a toilet bowl in front of me...
"welcome to the real world." - morpheus
the difficulty is we cant tell if we are in the real world. then morpheus added:
"what is real? how do you define 'real'?"
knowing that there is a real world, but pretending not to believe it; or being fucked up in life, and believing in a "real world". which one is more like masturbating? i find myself stuck in the middle somewhere...
"should have taken the blue pill." - cypher
this one is for my friend, cheng hung. he thought that he could be neo... excuse me, they called him "the one"... btw, how many people go to exile every day?
"there is no spoon." - the smart ass kid at oracle's house
i've been thinking about the meaning behind the line for the past 6 years. thank the tpjc choir, their teachers forgot to buy spoons for dinner just before their concert at esplanade...
"guns. lots of guns!" - neo
my papa asked me if i need anything when i last called him. i wanted to say "money. lots of money!"
"give me the code!" - agent smith
i hacked a computer to be my personal rootkit for illegal downloading and many other purposes. cheng hung was screaming something similar to me...
actually there are still many many other quotes, especially those philosophical ones from morpheus (he thought he's the god or what). but i have to stop because i'm already tired of typing.
have u noticed the picture at the start of the article? btw it's drawn by me when i was in secondary 3! you like huh? ... no? don't lie!
