some studies on money

taiwan is famous for its music industries. millions of young ppl go crazy for taiwanese music. jay chow, jolin tsai, f.i.r... are all from taiwan.

Q. guess what's the full name of taiwan?
a) the republic of taiwan
b) the united states of taiwan
c) the federation of taiwan
d) none of above

A. d)

well, you are stunned. but the official name of taiwan is called "the repuclic of china".

so how many chinas are there in the world? well, you can say there are 2. republic of china & people's republic of china; the former is aka taiwan, the other is the china, mainland.

but the united nation recognize only one china government - 30 years ago, republic of china; and later replaced by the p.r. china...

for historical reasons, it's very difficult for ppl from these two countries to travel to the other sides. but surprisingly, i managed to collect currencies from both chinas!

thanks to chu feng, my gp class mate. i used RMB25.00 (CN) to change her NTD100.00 (TW) note.
have a look at this picture!!!

cool isnt it? both taiwan and china money are there on my table!!!

after observing them for the whole afternoon, i found out a lot of interesting differences between the two currencies:
1/ rmb has mao tze-tung's face on it; ntd has sun yat-sen's face instead. they were the founders of the two countries.
2/ rmb is printed with simplified chinese characters; ntd is printed in traditional chinese characters.
3/ the smallest notes of rmb is 1 dollar (SGD 0.20); ntd has only 100 dollars (SGD 5.00)

100 dollar? what if i lose a ntd50.00 coin? i'll get traumatized...
